If you never received your renewal notification letter in the mail, call this phone number: 517-284-3700. The MSP is helping out in the renewal process. Once they confirm your identity over the phone, you will be told your PIN. This will enable you to submit your application online.

Can you ware a mask and still carry a gun in Michigan?
Yes, unless you are commiting a crime. MCL 750.396 – A person who intentionally conceals his or her identity by wearing a mask or other device covering his or her face for the purpose of facilitating the commission of a crime is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 93 days or a fine of not more than $500.00, or both.

Does Michigan have CPL (Concealed Pistol License) reciprocity with other states?
Yes, Michigan recognizes CPLs issued by all 50 states provided you are a resident of the State issuing the license.

Does having a Medical Marijuana card prevent me from having a CPL
This is a subject of great debate because both federal and state law come into play, and while Medical Marijuana is legal in Michigan, federally it is still a controlled substance. Michigan Open Carry has an excellent artcile explaining the issue, which can be found here

What is the difference between a CCW and a CPL?
People use the terms interchangeably, but they are actually two different things. In Michigan CCW is a criminal charge for carrying a concealed weapon unlawfully either on or about their person. A CPL is a license granted by the State and authorizes a person, to carry a concealed pistol on or about their person except as prohibited by statute.

Do you need a CPL to openly carry a hand gun in Michigan?
No. In Michigan, a person who is not barred from possessing a firearm by law, can open carry a firearm provided they are not in a vehicle, the hand gun is carried in a holster outside the waste band, and is clearly visible (it cannot be covered by anything other than the holster).  There are several PFZ (pistol free zones) where a person is not allowed to carry. You cannot open carry inside a vehicle. If you intend to open carry, I recommend you consult with an attorney or other knowledgeable organization such as Michigan Open Carry

Does having a CPL, void my right to open carry?
No, having a CPL does not invalidate your right to open carry.

With a CPL, in Michigan, can I carry more than one gun?
With a CPL, there is no limit on the number of hand guns you may carry on your person or in your car

What is a Pistol Free Zone (PFZ)?
Pistol Free Zones (PFZ) are places where people may not visit while having a pistol in their possession. Active/retired law enforcement and private investigators can get an exemption to Pistol Free Zones.
